Badie's detention extended over EMPC violence

South Giza prosecutors on Tuesday ordered the extended detention of Mohamed Badie, Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, for 15 days pending investigations into clashes that took place outside Egyptian Media Production City (EMPC) in August.
 
The site in 6 October City is home to several satellite channels critical of ousted President Mohamed Morsy and Islamists, and has been a regular protest site for disgruntled demonstrators over the past two years.
 
Badie is charged with inciting the storming of the site to destroy it. He is also accused of urging supporters to clash with security forces and attack vehicles.
 
He has denied all charges.
 
Prosecutorsr also remanded 36 others for 15 days on the same charges.
 
Preliminary investigations revealed that clashes took place outside EMPC between Morsy supporters and security forces, resulting in the destruction of studios and equipment.
