The attached article in English by Stephen Schwartz, "New Perspectives on The Spanish Civil War: Archival and related research on the historiography of the Spanish Civil War since the death of Franco," has been published in German in the 2010 edition of the annual Jahrbuch fur Historische Kommunismusforschung (Yearbook for Historical Research on Communism). The Jahrbuch is published by the German Federal Foundation for the Examination and Reappraisal of the Communist Dictatorship in East Germany (Bundesstiftung zur Aufarbeitung der SED-Diktatur). The attached article is circulated to CIP correspondents and posted to CIP sites because it includes hitherto unexamined material on the relationship of Morocco to the Spanish Republican cause. The English translation will be published this year by the UK cultural periodical Arena.
