The State Security Court Adds Ahmed Subhy Mansour to the List of the Quranists Accused of Contempt of Religion.

The Higher State Security Court decided to include Dr. Ahmed Subhy Mansour (The Godfather to Quranists' group, and a political Asylee in the U.S.) to the list of the five arrested members accused of religion contempt. Moreover, the Court considered him as the main defendant. Dr. Osman Mohamed Aly Mohamed (one of Mansour relatives) was also added as a second defendant, although he is also outside Egypt.

Adel Ramadan Rafee, a members of defense team and the representative of the Egyptian Initiative for human rights, stated that this new surprise, made by the general attorney took place the day before yesterday during investigations with the suspects, which lasted for seven hours and included more than one general attorney and the suspects- Ahmed Dahmash, Abdelatif Said, Amr Tharwat, and Ayman Abdelrahman.
Rafee added that the investigations included two books of Ahmed Mansour regarding Abou Horirah, and the penalty of apostasy, implying that the question were mainly concerned with the beliefs and ideas of the suspects regarding the penalty of apostasy and the intersession of the Prophet Mohamed, and whether the suspects pray the Sunnah prayers. Such questions, as described by Rafee, are unconstitutional and against articl 46 of the Egyptian Constitution.
