It's an exciting project, funded by EmbraceBC, to include 4 or 5 members from each of four faith groups for three dialogue sessions at the Inter-Cultural Association offices.<o:p></o:p>

The faith groups are Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Baha'i, so about 20 all together. We'll meet on three Sunday afternoons beginning the last Sunday in January - the 31st.<o:p></o:p>

We hope to have at least 4 from each Faith group, and they should be as diverse as possible in terms of age, gender and background (Sunni, Shia, Ismaili etc.) <o:p></o:p>

Dear Friends~<o:p></o:p>
This is a gentle reminder to join with the Victoria Multifaith Society (VMS), the Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA) and the South Island Dispute Resolution Centre (SIDRC) and other members from the Muslim, Christian, Bahá’í and Jewish faith communities as a participant in the Greater Victoria Interfaith Dialogue (GVID) project. The three GVID dialogue sessions will take place on Sundays January 31, February 7 and February 14 from 1:30pm-5:00pm at ICA located at 930 Balmoral Road. <o:p></o:p>
The GVID project seeks to foster positive communication, increase awareness and build greater understanding between these four Victoria faith communities. Participants will address misunderstandings we may have about one another as a result of their unique religious practices, customs, ethnicity, race, language, gender, etc. Each session will encourage participants to share and explore their perceptions and understandings about their faiths; identify and delve into religious and cross-cultural barriers in the relationships with each other and with the wider Victoria community. <o:p></o:p>
Building on previous community development initiatives that addressed cross-cultural conflict, the GVID project utilizes the Sustained Dialogue Model through a series of three carefully planned community dialogues. The dialogue sessions will take place in a safe and respectful environment. These sessions will be led by Kat Purvis-Bellamano, a skilled facilitator from the South Island Dispute Resolution Centre (SIDRC), and supported by the Inter-Cultural Association (ICA) and the Victoria Multifaith Society (VMS). <o:p></o:p>
Participants will explore how we can collectively overcome identified misperceptions and barriers we have about our faith communities. The project will culminate with the creation of an joint action plan of forward looking strategies to build trust and understanding among the respective faith communities. <o:p></o:p>
The project will conclude with a community public celebration featuring food, music and a presentation of the action plan created by project participants. For more information about this unique project please view the attachments. If this project is successful, we hope that future dialogues may be extended to include other faith groups.  <o:p></o:p>
