On the Occasion of Canada Day

Canada Day is celebrated on July 1st each year. It commemorates the establishment of the Canadian Confederation in 1867, when four provinces—Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick—joined together to form a federal union, marking the beginning of Canada's journey toward becoming a modern nation founded on cooperation and unity. In the years that followed, additional provinces and territories joined the federation, and today Canada consists of ten provinces and three territories.

On this special occasion, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Canada and its people, wishing the country continued progress, prosperity, and peace.

I also hope that the ancient history and civilization represented by Egypt will continue to meet and complement the spirit of progress and innovation represented by Canada. May cooperation between the two countries continue to expand in the fields of science, economics, education, and human development, while strengthening the shared values of human rights, the rule of law, respect for others, and the acceptance of cultural, intellectual, and religious diversity within a framework of freedom, justice, and equal citizenship.

I hope that every Canadian, American, and Western visitor will have the opportunity to visit Egypt and experience firsthand the cradle of human civilization—the land upon which history wrote some of its greatest chapters. May they discover its remarkable heritage, its warm and welcoming people, and enjoy spending part of their vacations in this extraordinary country.

Likewise, I hope that every Egyptian and Arab visitor will have the opportunity to visit Canada, where they can witness a contemporary model of scientific and technological advancement, respect for human dignity and rights, and the practical application of cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity within a peaceful society that values coexistence, the rule of law, and the dignity of every individual.

Visit Egypt... the cradle of civilization and history.

Visit Canada... the land of progress, diversity, and peace.

Happy Canada Day, and may Canada and Egypt, together with their peoples, continue to enjoy peace, prosperity, and a bright future.
